We have a yard! We REALLY have a yard!
It's SO WONDERFUL that the snow is finally melting, and we get to see what the land we bought looks like. This morning, as I walked to the garage to go to work, I snapped these in our east facing back yard.
Along the side we have an arch, covered in... dead stuff? Right now it is, anyway. Not sure what it will be. But whatever it is has been trimmed a bit already so that we can move freely.
Almost the same spot, different direction. Our deck! Stone deck. no railings. Steps to the back patio door.
And then, under the snow in the cedar chips, there are stepping stones! Maple leaf, one of the daughter's handprint. Further on there is a HUGE foot too.
The back of the house and deck. With our old furniture, which we're thinking of replacing with a table. And if you look closely, there is an OLD SCHOOL home alarm siren. Also on the house are TWO satellite dishes. Behind the delicate metal railing is a window well. You can just see to the left some raised stone beds? At one time they were fish ponds, now are filled with dirt. Will likely stay filled with dirt and can be the herb garden.
We need to replace the patio doors. I was thinking maybe warm wood doors? Visual interest to the back. Thoughts?
And our back yard tree. Gorgeous old thing, Neil wants to build a platform so that Maddy can have a tree house. Can't wait to see it in green!
Although the one this this house needs, now that we see the yard. A name. Old houses have names! The Coach House. Orchard House. The Laurels. Mill House. Mulberry Lodge.
This one has never been a coach house. Or near an Orchard. Or Laurels. Or a Mill... No Mulberries, just a pine and this tree above. Elm?
I was toying with Bruce, but I think this house deserves something more majestic.
Help?
