Main floor lighting changes

In our family room, we had SEVEN directional lights. However, only 4 were working... And the 4 that were working? Slightly hum (especially if you dim them). They are 1990's era, huge, bulky and stick far out of the ceiling. And we needed them gone.

In fact, everything done in the family room was extreme. It's a good sized room, but it's only one room. There are 2 doors, one floor to ceiling window (that doesn't open). However there were the 7 lights. And FOUR floor vents. It's a warm room in the winter... The adjoining room, kitchen eating area, which is as large and is more open to the kitchen area and has more windows has only 2 vents. Although there is also a lack of insulation in that room too, which makes it colder. And other issues...

Working with our favourite electricians (OPAL Electric) we're addressing our lighting issues. We are added recessed lights, LED lights with a gimbal. Which is fine, in a 1977 addition. That we're decorating more in the mid-century style.

And the lights? They are the Phillips Hue, coloured bulbs! Super fun to turn the room into a dance party, when we add a program that will change colours and flash to music. And we only put in 5 lights. More than enough!

In the kitchen eating area had a 1990's track light With THREE tracks. Below.

We moved the hanging lights to over the kitchen peninsula. And then removed the tracks, for the aforementioned perfect light.

Yet ANOTHER track got replaced with this light, that matches the one in the hall. Post on that here

And on that theme. More track, gone. This was an experiment. And I am not sure it works... Vintage glass but the base it new. Does NOT match properly.

Main floor bath. Here is the light, being held up by Neil as I forgot to take a pic before excitedly removing the light.

And MORE TRACK. And a precariously hanging shower curtain rack.

And now we have this. AND better paint colour too. Although I am toying with going deep navy in there now.

In the sitting room we removed 4 of the 7 spotlights. Yes, SEVEN MORE LIGHTS. At least there was no track... and replaced them with nothing. We have the beautiful art dec/nouveau light in the centre. And then one spotlight on the art. The rest were tied off and plates put on. For now... eventually we'll just have them removed and re-drywalled.

There are 2 of these spots in the former open porch. And those will either be replaced with one light in the centre. Or have 2 lights, but more art deco/nouveau like the light in there. And the one in the dining room. And entry.

The dining room light.

As many lights are LED as we could change. THREE more sets of track in the kitchen that will be replaced. As soon as I figure out what I want to do in there...

And now we're on the hunt for some appropriate table or floor lamps. Light sets a mood. And overly lit rooms of track lighting is NOT the mood I am going for.
